About NAWBO Boston

NAWBO Boston is your local access to the most powerful women’s entrepreneur network in the United States.

When you’re a member of NAWBO Boston, you’re a member of the national organization. The National Association of Women Business Owners® (NAWBO®) is the only dues-based national organization representing the interests of all women entrepreneurs in all industries. It’s the voice of America's 10.6 million women-owned businesses, helping women share resources and providing a single voice to shape economic and public policy.

NAWBO started as an informal meeting of women business owners in the Washington, D.C. area who met to trade information about federal contracts, bank credit, and other business issues.
Today, the organization features chapters in almost every metropolitan area in the United States, including Greater Boston, which serves success-minded women throughout New England. Learn more about NAWBO National.

Presidents Corner, August, 2008

I hope you all enjoyed our Rooftop networking event at the Double Tree Suites at the end of July! The weather held out to be a beautiful night. Our events are designed around providing the right environment for our members and guests to get a chance to build relationships that will enhance their opportunities for success in their business. One way to benefit your business is to hear about another's keys to their success. Our guest speakers, Karen Whitley and Kathleen Burns Kingsbury, shared some of their best practices that I thought were definitely worth repeating.

  • Get to know the person you are networking with first before you ask for the opportunity to work with them.
  • Don't be afraid to charge what you are worth.
  • Try to do your research on a topic before you discuss it, but don't be afraid to take some risks to put yourself out there.
  • Always try to get involved in different organizations and remain persistent in your message so that people get the idea of what you do or represent.

I would like to thank Kathleen and Karen for taking the time to share their learning experiences with our group. Please mark your calendars for our next Rooftop networking event on Aug. 28th. We will have guest speaker Jennifer Smith from Color Express. She will be discussing the ways you can maximize the benefits of working with a professional printer.

Nawbo Boston would like to announce its newest Corporate Partnership with Double Tree Guest Suites of Boston and Simmons School of Management! We want to thank them for their support!

I would like to congratulate our first Member Spotlight winner, Ellie Anbinder of Art Because, Inc. The spotlight will be up and ready to see on our Membership page by September! For the Aug.28th event, we have decided to pull 3 winners for the Members Spotlight! Only those present can win!

Nawbo Boston will try it's best to stay current and open to new ideas to enhance our members' benefits. Please contact us anytime to share your thoughts!
